Lazy lazy day
It's another lazy Sunday. The day seems to drag it's feet, never being officially full or complete; but mostly just loosely strung together - or maybe it's that I feel that way.
I've read many blogs lately dealing with the upcoming election. The candidates platforms, rebuttals, tag lines and pleas. I've heard pundits chatter away about one minor echoed issue turned into the end of civilazation as we know it. "If John Kerry wins then ...." or "If George Bush is reelected then ...". Drivel and dross.
With all due respect to the thought and care that a candidate gives to their "pre" election matra's - when any "person" occupies the office, it's all for naught. I don't care for John Kerry. I won't vote for him. My personal right - as much as it is anothers to not vote for Bush. Do I hate Kerry. No. I won't bitch and moan that I'll leave the country if he's elected. It won't happen. Nor will the world ceaes to exist if Bush is reelected.
The world is not run by one man, nor all situations as predictable as an outline platform. There are issues a president champions or perhaps forces, but overall, radical change to our governmental system does not, nor will ever happen. It's the beautity of our country. We will not collaspe under the weight of one man because we are not under the weight of one man.
No matte who's in office, they will be forced to negotiate. They will be forced to make decisions that override their personal desires. They will face issues unforeseen, but they do none of it alone. So, in November, your vote does matter, in as much as you are laying a framework for decision making ... but spare the drama of thinking the country will be brought to it's knees, radically altered beyond recognition. It won't happen.
