Diarrhea, Allergies and a puppy

This past week has been a cloudy blur. I think the "insanity" started on Wednesday when Elliott got a very high fever followed by clockwork diarrhea (every half an hour). After frantic calls to the doctor, it was determined that the antibiotic he was on (Omnicef) was killing the good bacteria in his digestive track and causing his issues. So we had to give him only liquids and "B.R.A.T.Y" (banana, rice, applesauce, toast, yogurt) foods. The poor boy had diarrhea for 3 days, going an average of every hour, without any real food. By Sunday he was doing better, and was able to eat something other than yogurt sticks and toast. Today he's pleading and begging for real foods (and I don't blame him).
Over the weekend I did my normal chores of yard work and miscellaneous house duties. I was outside most the day. Bad idea. My allergies decided to concentrate their entire assault to my left eye. It itched and swelled close. Right now it hurts to blink.
But easily the biggest news of the weekend was getting a puppy. Yeah, we got a puppy. His name is Sirius Black (named after the Harry Potter character, not the satellite radio channel; but does have the added the perk of this given senario; person says "Are you serious?", I can now reply, "No, that's my dog".). He is part Labraodor Retriever and part Basset Hound -- which makes him loyal, lazy and lovable. The kids are very excited to have him; and he runs around outside with them. Last evening he slept on Abigails floor, until he woke up and pooped on her carpet, and then slept in his crate in our room. I have mixed feelings, but its nice to see everyone so excited. I'm not a huge dog person I guess, but he's sleeping quietly by my feet as I type - which isn't a bad thing, I could grow used to it.
