Recap: LOST Finale

In the 6 years that I've been watching LOST I've moved into a new home, had another child, gotten a new car, written hundreds of blogs about LOST, seen my parents divorce, 2 cats die, a basement flood and 1000s of gray hairs invade my noggin. It's an investment, and typically one expects a return on an investment. Did LOST have a good return on what was their final offering?

Recap: LOST 'Across The Sea' (S6, E15)

The Twins

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Recap: LOST The Candidate' (S6, E14)

The Candidate

Black verses White. Good versus evil. Faith versus Science. Man versus Nature. Black Smoke versus Water. The battle continues and escalates and takes a few victims along for the ride in what might be and what isn't; and at this point I'm not willing to concede that anything is real in the world of LOST.

Recap: LOST 'Everyone Loves Hugo' (S6, E12)

It's his fault

I'll be honest. I haven't known what to recap or even say about LOST the last few episodes. Not for lack of things to say, but for lack of nice things to say. It's not because I don't like the episodes either, I do. But I think I'm unsteady or unsure as we tiptoe to the end of what could either be brilliant and poignant or vapid and empty. I'm hoping for the former.

Recap: LOST 'Ab Aeterno' (S6, E9)

So I missed a week of recapping last week, in what to me was a toss off episode with barely enough interesting information to fill 10 minutes (let alone a blog recap). And now I'm faced with the task of attempting to recap what is without a doubt the most revealing episode of LOST to date (one might even say they blew their wad; I wouldn't, but "one" would).

Recap: LOST 'Dr. Linus' (S6, E7)

A man without action is nothing. One can talk about how good he is, but without the results of doing good, words are menaingless. And throughout our lives without a good dose of grace we're sure to fail. To do what is selfish. To pander to the expectation that we're unable to do good. Without grace there is no redemption.

Recap: LOST 'Sundown' (S6, E6)

Sometimes being a good person isn't enough, if you're a bad person in just one way. Sayid is a good person. Except he has a nasty habit of seeking violent revenge on those he feels have "wronged" him. It doesn't matter which world or reality he occupies, his name is always Vengeance.

Recap: LOST 'Lighthouse' (S6, E5)

Jack looking at the ocean

Dude, did you see that thing with the names and the numbers and the reflections and the time travel and the scar and the weird glances between people and the cryptic messages and how remember in Riven when it was just like this and this guy thinks that this other guy isn't the guy who he says he is and how there's a bad person who's going to destroy everything and OUCH. I need an aspirin and a shot of whiskey ... Who's ready for this?

Recap: LOST 'The Substitute' (S6, E4)

Bizzaro John Locke

Not John Locke is here to give us some answers. But then again, he's really not. We do learn a bit more about the real John Locke's life in the multiverse. We were promised "answers", right? Just making sure, because I could swear this is the series finale and a "conclusion" usually coincides with something like that.

Recap: LOST 'What Kate Does' (S6, E3)

An interesting repeat of an episode title from Season 2. If I can sum up anything about the sophomore episode of season 6, it's that we aren't given much in terms of revelations, but we're ushered into some interesting situations. Here's hoping that we start to pick up some steam (and answers) in the finale season (right?). Weak sauce.

Recap: LOST 'LA X' (S6,E1)

Spa of Youth

Remember how this final season would reveal all the questions we had built up over 5 seasons, 103 episodes? Yeah, not so much; unless you consider parallel universes, a whole new tribe of "others" on the island and a body count like a bad revenge movie answers. LOST is back, and its still confusing as hell.

Recap: LOST 'The Incident, Part 1 & 2' (S5,E16)

This is Pa... I mean Jacob

You want answers or do you want the truth? I'm sorry, you can only have one or the other, and in the final, two-part season finale you get neither and both. Who is Jacob? What does he do? Well, you will find out but not really find out. You do get a snarky Jack, a timid Kate, a snippety Sawyer, a defiant Locke and a long-overdue fist fight. Be warned, spoilers ahead!

Recap: LOST 'Follow The Leader' (S5,E15)

Richard Alpert

Submarines, time travel and hydrogen bombs; is there anything else one could even want? I say no. In this episode of LOST, "Follow The Leader" the John Locke of Season 1 (the cocksure, egomaniacal Locke - yeah, I said cocksure, shut your face about it) returns, but like so many times before will his new found faith and confidence betray him?

Recap: LOST 'The Variable' (S5,E14)

Daniel Faraday

Daniel is back and he's more confusing than ever. Not only can you change things in the past, but this may not be your past at all, it might be your present. Or maybe not. Either way, Faraday returns to confound and further complicate matters in the latest episode of LOST. As always, reader beward ... spoilers ahead.

Recap: LOST 'Some Like It Hoth' (S5,E13)

Miles Chang

He see's dead people. And by "he", I mean Miles (of course, you knew that). If the title of this episode seems strange, it is (referencing a hilarious but miniscule exchange between Hurley and Miles). But we begin to learn a tad more of the complexity of how everyone may have ended up on this island. Spoilers ahead.

Recap: LOST 'Dead is Dead' (S5,E12)

Benjamin Linus

The Monster, The Temple and John Locke the savior. We finally get some insights into the true nature of the ancient island, Ben is judged by the "monster", the rift between Widmore and Ben is discovered, oh, and NEVER TRUST Ben, that and much more from "Dead is Dead". WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD.

Recap: LOST 'He's Our You' (S5,E10)

Everyone must choose sides. As the tangled web of causation, ripple-effects and motivate all collapse into a heap of "what the hell?", we're introduced to another concept – purpose. Abuse, burning vans, Scotch and dipping sauces all await on the newest episode. As always, this post contains SPOILERS, so don't read if you want to be sulled.

Recap: LOST 'Namaste' (S5,E9)

The new recruits. Alternate times. Christian Shephard in the cabin. A young Ben Linus with a sandwich. All that and more from this weeks LOST episode. As always, don't read this if you don't want any spoilers!

Recap: LOST 'LeFleur' (S5,E8)

THE Statue

Wow. Wow. Wow. If this imag doesn't make you excited about this episdoe then either you aren't paying attention, or you're not really a fan of the show. I expect surprises and revelations, but nothing that does both simultaneously. All I can say is that if you missed this episode, find a way to watch it — now.

Recap: LOST (S5,E7)

John Locke

Suppose that throughout history, for all of time, there are individuals who continually live, eternally, to find themselves in the past to do things in the future which happen again and again and again throughout time -- dejavu, reincarnation, chance, coincidence, miracles -- a spiraling story of predetermined people creating the history of mankind. Or maybe its just about 2 men and their egos, and a nerdy scientist who loves a girl and the collateral damage they engulf in their pursuits. This is the beauty of LOST.

Recap: LOST (S5,E6)

Jack reads Locke's suicide note

Sadly from the very first moments of "316" when Eloise uttered the words "window of time". I began thinking that perhaps there is a corrolary with another group of 6 time travelers (perhaps the greatest time travel comedy of all time). Alas, there is not. But we've gained more clues into the tightening plot of LOST. It should go without saying (but won't), if you haven't see this episode, read no further.

Recap: LOST (S5,E5)

I'm beginning to think that LOST is recreating "Goundhog Day" except substituting the "reliving one day" to "reliving 100 years" over and over and over and over. If you haven't watched the episode, then I suggest you not click the title to enter, but if you have - well, let's comsizerate on the mind-imploding face punch "This Place is Death" was.

Recap: LOST (S5,E4)

As if things couldn't get any more confusing on LOST - aside from the time travel without time travel and a dangling hydro-bomb, NOW we have to deal wtih the possibilty that the entire story is a complicated concoction of an insane physicist, to get a girl; either that or its about a knife and a compass.

Not all those who wander are lost

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light...

Recap: LOST (S3E21)

GREATEST HITS What We Learned:FLASHBACK FOCUS: Charlie Again, completely unnecessary flashback. The emotion of the scenes without the flashbacks were fine. I understand why they did them -- to relive Charlie's greatest moments/memories of his life -- since he thought he...

Recap: Lost (S3E20)

THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN What We Learned FLASHBACK FOCUS: Ben Linus Wow. One of the more meaningful flashbacks in the past 2 seasons. Ben was born as his mother died. His father resented him. The man who "picked them up" after the...

Recap: Lost (S3E15)

Recap: Lost (S3E14)

EXPOSE What we Learned:Flashback Focus: Nikki and Palo, oh how little we knew thee. The show opens with a frantic Nikki digging in the dirty, burying something and wandering toward Sawyer and Hurley; collapsing in a heap managing only to say "Pilates"...

Recap: Lost (S3E13)

It's been a rather long time since I Lost recapped; and most of that is due to the fact that I've felt there is very little to recap about (as nothing was really happening), but they've been able to string together 3 good episodes; to which I feel pretty good about. So, I will be back to the regular recapping.

Recap: Lost (S3E9)

Recap: Lost (S3E7)

What we learnedFLASHBACK FOCUS: Juliet: Juliet was a brilliant medical researcher, who worked under the thumb of her manipulative ex-husband. Her research was (from what I could gather) in impregnation without fertilization(?). Her research is pursued by a "company" from Portland,...

Whetting your appetite for tomorrow's LOST

John sent these very intriguing images (most likely from someone who works on the set of LOST). The first thought is that its the "camp ground" of which Michael was speaking. Second thought is, perhaps these are just stage props...

Lost : Recap (S2, E20)

What we learned: First off. WHAT THE HELL!!? Michael shoots Ana and the Libby and then himself in the arm (and one woudl assume that he then kills "Henry"). What!? Why? I certainly did not expect that, at all. Poor Hurley!...

Recap of Recaps : Lost (Reckoning)
