There Is Always A Problem But Not Always A Solution

 

It's nearly impossible to not take a position in the aftermath of the horrible tragedy in the killing of 20 children and 6 adults in Newtown, MA. As we lament and mourn and inevitably worry if the same thing could befall our own children, we rationally and irrationally look for blame.

Lots of nothing, and then there's something

 

I knew this day would come. It had to. I suppose it didn't have to; but for all my miserly, curmudgeonly tones of anger, I do actually love my life; my family, my friends. And now here I am, finally aged into my already elderly tendencies. I am turning 40 years old tomorrow.

The Laws of Parental Inevitablity

They'll need a crane

 

There's the Law of Thermodynamics, Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation even Murphy's Law, but over the last 11 years I've learned that there are intrinstic and unavoidable laws governing the parental universe. Laws which by merely defining them, make them obsolete; like trying to see yourself in the mirror with your eyes closed. They are elusive and wholly disparaging, but knowing, as they say, is half the battle.

Why do I hate lawn care so much?

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you know how much I hate taking care of our lawn (and taking care is a lose translation for "do just enough so that our yard isn't a field of tall weeds rising 12 feet in the air").
