All things pale in comparison

by Paul (1 Comments) StumbleUpon

Its not hard to find someone who's going through a much more turbulent, tumultuous and difficult time; which gives reference to our own little problems. A friend from church (our worship leader) Andy Reider had lost his mom earlier this year, and then early this morning his sister, Katie Reider (a talented musician herself) died from a complicate myofibroblastic tumor on her brain. So, if you have a chance, pray for the Reider family (Katie had 2 children).

The little experiment is over

by Paul (7 Comments) StumbleUpon

So, my attempt at stopping the spam comments worked -- unfortunately it also appears to have halted the vast majority of ALL comments (including my own). Sadly there isn't much one can do to really stop a spammer if they intend to spam. I've tried Askimet, a cookie/time based system and will not attempt the annoying "CAPTCHA method; I believe the next step is the "moderation" method. Sorry for anyone this has frustrated too much ...

Get a house for $100

by Paul (0 Comments) StumbleUpon

Fellow beard-grower James Mathias has a new job, in a new town; but a large problem. The economy has tanked and his house is worth less than what he owes. Rather than wait around and take a hit, he's taken action -- by using the internet and a contest Win a $100 House.

The idea -- enter a $100 essay contest on why you'd deserve a $100 house (in Bonners Ferry Idaho). His goal -- get at least 2500 entries, find a winner, give them the house and move to his new job. You get the house for $100 (one you never even have to live in -- you can sell it, rent it, whatever); he circumvents the horrid market and retains the worth of his home.

New Favorite Site

by Paul (0 Comments) StumbleUpon

Though, I doubt this will be a frequently updated site, The Art of the Title Sequence has a great repository of some of the best film title sequences in one place. I got interesting in title sequences over a decade ago when I went to an AIGA event in Boulder, CO -- featuring much of the work of Imaginary Forces (Kyle Cooper). It really all started with Se7en and since then I'm always looking for great opening title sequences.

Waiting for 20 years

by Paul (3 Comments) StumbleUpon

Last night my team -- the University of Kansas Jayhawks finally won another Final Four National Championship. I've been a huge fan of the team since 1986; was watching with my dad when they (last) won in 1988; made a long drive with dad to New Orleans in 2003 to watch them lose to Syracuse; and last night was a nail-biting, stomach churning showdown where they were able to defeat Memphis in overtime. Its a good feeling, I won't lie ...

Muxed Up : Count It Off

by Paul (0 Comments) StumbleUpon

I reloaded my muxtape with a new theme; songs that start with a hard count (either with strumming, counting or drum sticks). So, enjoy this very short and varied muxtape.
