DAY 6: Today the drywall is going up. Hoping the week goes smoothly and a bathroom starts to emerge. To be able to “do my business” in private, with a solid door will be glorious in and of itself — and for it to be new and updated and utilizing all the space available will be heavenly rapture.

Our neighbors down the street allowed us to use their bathroom yesterday so we could bathe the kids — since they seem to be unable to play outside and not get dirt, twigs and all manner of outdoor debris in their hair. Nice to have friends who are sincere, honest and genuine. Rare to find in anyone, let alone one’s right down the street (and someone I “met” on an international, large message board – providence so clear).
We watched 21 Grams on Friday night. The story is told in a non-sequential group of 3 separate but providentially intersecting lives, blips and snapshots of life told through memory and reminiscing.
At first you’re thrown into a sort of confusion between what is now, what is then – who is that, why is that important? Through surprisingly little dialogue, the stories of each character unfold — each tragic and in search of redemption and hope. The weight of one life is 21 grams, a stack of 5 nickels, the weight of a humming bird, in exchange for another and another. Inspection. Despair. Love. Hope. Anger. Foolishness. All lead to redemption in pain as each story insects to healing.
A Celebration of Discipline has been excellent so far. Covering why the “disciplines” of Christian life are important and nearly lost to our culture — the 12 disciplines are vital and necessary to a whole Christian life. Right now I’m reading on the discipline of “meditation”. The act of quietly seeking God through our silence. I deeply need this, now, today. Always. To find God and clarity, to seek the caverns of hurt that I seek to heal myself.
