Just a few short days away from filling the van with boxes, presents, bags, toys, pillows, a cat, setting up the portable DVD player, stocking up on kids movies, making lunches, packing snacks, filling water bottles and hitting the often barren terrain of Ohio, the brief inclines of West Virginia and the endless toll roads of Pennsylvania on toward Delaware for Christmas. It’s more overwhelming than it sounds.
We\’ll attempt to leave at 7:30am or 8am, but really won’t hit the road till 9am. Then we\’ll hit the construction on I-71 near Columbus, and have to drive slowly from Columbus till about Zanesville (last year Sonya got a ticket). After we hit the turnpike we\’ll have to stop for a lunch and potty break – stretch our legs, snag a Venti Eggnog Latte at Starbucks (ok, I cave in for that, but regular Starbucks sucks!), then march onward till we get to Lancaster area were we stop again for gas, food and stretching out. During the trip I\’m sure Sonya will turn to the back of the van – to get food and load and unload DVDs, pick up dropped toys – about 87 times. Hopefully no car-sickness or migraines. Boy, sounds like a fun trip. Or not. What are you all doing?
