It’s week three of Abigail’s kindergarten and we are all still adjusting to the newness of it all; the change in all of our schedules. It is quieter in the house now that it’s been reduced to one child between the hours of 8 and 3 and it seems a little strange too.
Change isn’t bad, it’s just different and sometimes we don’t like different until we get used to it or try to pretend it isn’t that different (whatever your style of dissociating may be).
Abigail is a bit disgruntled this morning, slowly verbalizing her realizations that kindergarten isn’t all she expected it to be. She’s learning at a young age that our expectations often don’t match reality and let’s hope she catches on to that idea earlier than I did; I’m still reminded of that because I so often forget. Let’s just all take our rose colored glasses off and stop pretending and adjust our expectations a little and make life easier on ourselves, or is that too much to expect — ha.
